Waiting For Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is one of, if not, the hardest times of the year for those struggling to become a mother. No matter if you are trying to conceive, cycling on infertility treatments, or waiting to adopt, Mother’s Day is a reminder of what we are not. We are not a mother. We are reminded of our lack of ability, and the worries and stress that it may never happen. The sadness that our bodies have failed us yet another year, or the rejection of yet another adoption placement.

We avoid church to dodge the celebration of mothers even though our hearts ache to be apart of your day. To be honored for molding and shaping little souls. To be loved on and pampered by our babies that need us every day. To receive the perfectly prepared hand crafted gift stating...Bestest Mommy Ever! Yes, our hearts yearn for more, but this is by no mistake. God is so carefully molding you into the woman you are, and He wants to use your pain to create something beautiful that will be so worth the wait.

The moment God put the desire of motherhood in your heart, you became a mother.

So today my dear friend, hold tight to the promises from God. Promises of love and a future.

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, BELIEVE that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Pray. Pray like you have already received your motherhood! Thank God for bringing you your children. Pray for your children. Pray for their health. Pray for their wild personalities. Give thanks for a beautiful pregnancy. Thank God for a smooth adoption. Pray for your child’s birth mother/birth father. Give thanks for their unselfish decision to choose life for your child! It has already happened in God’s eyes...show Him your faithfulness. Positive thinking will do wonders for your heart. Never say, “if it happens” Always say, “WHEN it happens”

Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” God hears your cries. He created your heart, and He knows your desires better than you. Delight in the fact that he will turn these sorrows into testimonies. After years of infertility I began to pray for God to remove the desire of pregnancy. I didn't want to be pregnant any more, I wanted to be a mother more than I wanted to be pregnant. Your desires can change, and change because God has already written your motherhood story...we just need to get on board!

Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” We are never guaranteed a smooth ride. We will face afflictions of this world, and if this is our trial for a season, than let us face it head on. Hold tight to this hope expecting good things to happen. Be patient, you can handle it. You are stronger than you ever thought you could be. And, pray. Fall on your knees and pray for joy, hope, and patience because if we rely on ourselves we will fall short.

Exodus 14:14 “The LORD will fight for you, you need only to be still.” If I could count the times I tried to fight my own battles; Tried to reason with God. When all I had to do was be still! Really LORD? ...yes, really! Waiting is the hardest time to be still and let anyone else fight for you. But God, God is a warrior, trust that he knows what battles need fought. Give them to him and let go. I cried so many tears over situations and battles that had already been taken care of by my mighty God. It’s so hard to see it when you are in the middle of it, but I wish someone had grabbed me and said... “BREATH, GOD’S GOT THIS!”

Romans 8:18 “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” No matter what we have to endure to get to motherhood...it will all be worth it. Every smile you get. Every hug and butterfly kiss. Every snotty nose you wipe. Every first milestone you witness. Every I LOVE YOU MOM.

Your current sufferings are not even comparable to what’s in store!

So dear friend…. This mother’s day relax, pamper yourself, stay home in your pajamas, read a good book, order take out, and breath, God’s got this!

Happy Mother’s in Waiting Day to you!

Because when God put the desire in your heart he made you a mother!
